Kielder Castle was the starting point for a public workshop exploring large scale 3D scanning at Kielder Water and Forest Park. As part of the Testing Ground series of workshops run by ScanLAB Projects + UCL a group of students from the Barteltt School of Architecture, together with local residents, learnt the basics of terrestrial laser scanning on this spot outside Kielder Castle. This short animation shows the castle and the workshop participants as they experimented with obscuring and interfering with the scanners progress. Kielder Castle was part of Testing Ground 01: CAPTURE where students focused on 3D scanning for film and animation making. Testing Ground 02: INSERTION will explore 3D scanning for fabrication in March 2013.
